Campus Bookstore Alternative - Bucks4Books - Opens Doors in Provo

New Textbook Sell-Back Store Supports Lehi-Rippy Family Literacy Center during Grand Opening

PROVO, Utah, April 3, 2008 - Utah County college campus bookstores will now have some friendly competition - Bucks4Books has opened a textbook sell-back hub at 1774 North University Parkway in Brigham's' Landing Plaza in Provo. Bucks4Books hopes to make its mark with Brigham Young University and Utah Valley State College students with a refreshing book sell-back experience that features immediate cash for every book sold back, less hassle, a bright clean store, and a donation and book drive to support local literacy programs to boot.

The Provo location is the six-year-old company's first store outside of New York. Bucks4Books, first known as Valore Books, was started by a group of State University of New York students who saw an opportunity to offer dorm-mates more cash and a faster alternative to book store lines. The group now operates four sell-back hubs in Fredonia and Buffalo, and will open another in Rochester.

"I understand that some local students had a tough time getting their cash back from the previous store owner. We sympathize with them since we were all students not very long ago, and we know what they want - just a fair sell-back transaction that puts cash in their hands at the point of transaction," says Gareth Leonard, Bucks4Books marketing director. "So we built our business on some simple principles - we promise to try to match or beat any competitor's prices, we don't care where the students bought their books, and we offer a clean, friendly store atmosphere with great service.

"Some campus bookstores offer special sell-back incentives, but often the books had to be purchased at that campus bookstore," adds Leonard. "Bucks4Books, on the other hand, consistently provides a fair sell-back price no matter where books were purchased."

Bucks4Books is also committed to giving back to the community and will donate a percentage of all its book sell-backs during the Provo grand opening from April 2 - 26, to the Lehi-Rippy Family Literacy Center. The non-profit organization helps children and adults receive free one-on-one tutoring in reading, math, computer skills, Spanish, sign language, and English as a second language. Bucks4Books is also encouraging the public to drop off unwanted books in recycling bins at the Provo store which will be donated to other national literacy programs.
