ValoreBooks Changes Name & Expands Mission in Buffalo

ValoreBooks Spin-off Bucks4Books Sets Sights on Literacy Initiatives and National Expansion

Buffalo, New York, November 10, 2008 - The increasingly popular college textbook company ValoreBooks.com announced today that it has spun-off its Buffalo area brick & mortar locations under a new company name - Bucks4Books. This is part of a nationwide re-branding effort to help potential customers better understand the business. The new name draws on the company's significant brand recognition to its core business model: Paying students more cash for their used textbooks.

"Our company has evolved and so has our vision of being an 'off-campus bookstore'" said Gareth Leonard, Director of Marketing, Bucks4Books. "We have taken everything we've learned from our customers at ValoreBooks and incorporated what we want to stand for on-campus and in the community to develop a truly refreshing textbook experience - Bucks4Books."

"We were all students not very long ago, and we know what they want - a fair sell-back experience that puts cash in their hands at the point of transaction," says Gareth Leonard, Bucks4Books marketing director. "So we built our business on some simple principles - we try to match or beat any competitor's prices, we don't care where the students bought their books, and we offer a friendly store atmosphere with great service.

Headquartered here in Buffalo, NY, the ValoreBooks spin-off carries a new name, redesigned stores, and a revolutionary twist that will help college students and literacy efforts in the city of Buffalo. Bucks4Books has also wasted no time expanding, in recent months they've gone from a local, four store operation to opening new stores in Rochester, New York, Salt Lake City, Utah and Long Beach, California.

In the process of changing over from ValoreBooks, Bucks4Books has revamped its core business to make it even easier and more profitable for students to sell their books. Here are three of the new features Bucks4Books has incorporated:

  1. An advanced pricing system that now has the ability to buyback and pay higher prices for more used books than any other bookstore nationwide.
  2. An all new real-time textbook buyback system allows students to get fast and accurate book quotes without ever having to wait in hour long lines like on-campus.
  3. A new distribution system that allows Bucks4Books to buyback books no matter where a student purchased them.

Opportunities for Students

The Bucks4Books Group Fundraiser Program - Student-run groups, teams and clubs, have the opportunity to earn money for their organization and/or cause of their choice by promoting the Bucks4Books brand to their friends and classmates. Group Fundraisers also compete in the B4B Sell Back Contest to win over $2,500 in cash prizes each semester.

B4B Campus Rep Program - This program is similar to the Group Fundraiser Program although it allows individual students to earn extra money by promoting the Bucks4Books brand to their friends and classmates. Campus Reps are also entered into the B4B Sell Back Contest where they have the chance to win cash prizes.

Dedication to Literacy

The B4B Fund - Bucks4Books has made it a top priority to not only help college students get a better deal on textbooks, but also help positively impact the communities they serve. The B4B Fund was created to give customers and community members a platform to help local literacy initiatives. The B4B Fund partners with local non-profit literacy organizations to support their programs through book donations, monetary aid and raising social awareness. This allows students to give back to their community with every book they sell back to Bucks4Books.

Here in Buffalo, Bucks4Books has teamed up with Read to Succeed and will donate a percentage of the proceeds from all four Bucks4Books Buffalo Locations. The non-profit organization is a coalition of over fifty local organizations dedicated to improving literacy in the city of Buffalo.

B4B Bins - Bucks4Books encourages students to recycle any books that can't be bought back, by dropping them in store B4B Bins. Those books will be donated directly to underprivileged children or sold for cash to fund new book donations.

Book Drives - Throughout the entire month of November and December Bucks4Books will hold an open book drive in every Bucks4Books store location in Buffalo and Fredonia to collect used books and textbooks. The proceeds from this effort will be used to support Read to Succeed Buffalo and its mission of achieving 100% literacy in the city of Buffalo.

The all new Bucks4Books stores are located on the corner of Elmwood & Amherst near Buffalo State College, across the street from The Steer on Main St. near University at Buffalo South Campus, on Millersport Hwy between University at Buffalo North Campus and South Campus across from the Marriott, and on Water St. in Fredonia.
